I recently edited this PSA for the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Department. It’s called “Move Over” and the content says it all. Not only is it designed to promote awareness and safety, but it also shows the range of First Responders and what they do in Clackamas County. Most people aren’t aware that river patrol and rescue is down through the sheriff’s department.

OK, so we don’t get to do all the coolest projects, but sometimes our gear does. Since we have a hot new Red One camera and it happens to be in short supply, we’ve sent it to New York for rental where it was recently used for this Sonic-MTV ad.

The Red One is a fantastic movie-quality camera that is taking the high-end production world by storm. Look for a dedicated page on the Red One soon.

I first met Katy and Lauren from Providence Medford Medical Center in December 2006. They came in without a script but with a couple of DV tapes, a handful of still photographs, and some ideas. This is the short video we came up with in less than two days for the Festival of Trees. The money raised went toward the new BirthPlace expansion.

This video shows how still photographs can be very powerful when animated. It worked to our advantage because we were already using 4:3 video and 16:9 video so our sizes were all over the place. It worked pretty well when we were finished and the audience loved it.

For the last three years, Providence Medford Medical Center has come to us for the annual Festival of Trees video. The video often showcases what supporters of the Festival of Trees will be helping PMMC accomplish through their donations. Sometimes new equipment, sometimes new building additions. This year the video was really a thank you to all the staff and workers of PMMC with the encouragement that everything they do helps to “shed a ray of light”.

The video was made by using repurposed videos, three recent commercials, a few new stills and some new video shot by RVI Media. At the event, the song “Ray of Light” was sung by a 13-year-old girl to the music track synced with the video. Here is the two-and-a-half minute finished piece.

I came across another one of my favorite older productions as I was organizing our media vault the other day. This 10-minute video was done for Project Patch a few years ago. It was written by Anne DeRock and shot by Bill Dolan, both of Spirit Media. Edited by Warren Shultz.

Project Patch is a faith-based facility for troubled teens. Watch the video to find out what they’re all about.

I recently completed a video for St. Mary’s School which was commissioned to launch their $12-million capital fundraising program.

We spent time documenting different classes, interviewing students, and capturing aspects of the sports, music, and drama programs.

We also interviewed prominent members of the community who are involved with St. Mary’s School.

I’m happy to say the video has been well received. Later, KOBI-5 called to ask if they could use some of the footage for some promotional spots.

We also wrote and produced two television and radio PSAs (Public Service Announcements) targeting pregnant women and children.

I really enjoyed working with Maria Underwood at La Clinica to produce these programs.

I can’t believe this project is around 8 or 9 years old now. All that remains of the original edit is this little postage stamp video. You can see some clues to age by looking at the old computer monitors in the program.

In the olden days of 9 years ago, there was barely an internet and what there was had no bandwidth to speak of. Because of that, it was the time when CD was king!

We’ve come a long ways technologically. CD are mostly replaced with DVD, The computer screens are flat panels. Our big heavy expensive standard definition cameras have been replaced by smaller, lighter, less expensive high definition gear.  I like these days better!  But all the equipment molding and turning out thousands of CDs an hour was pretty cool.
